Celia Pacquola began her career as a comic, first landing a job as a writer on the satirical game show "Good News Week" (ABC (Australia), 1996-98; Network Ten, 1998-2000, 2008-2012) and soon after began making appearances on camera. Her first on camera appearance came in 2009 on the talk show "Rove Live" (Nine Network, 1999; Network Ten, 2000-09), the same year her stage show "Am I Strange?" won the Best Australian Act award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In 2011, Pacquola appeared in her first starring role, on the comedy "Laid" (ABC1, 2011-12). She was also a writer on the second season of the show. After playing a supporting role on seasons four and five of "Offspring" (Network Ten, 2010-), in 2014, she premiered on the government office satire "Utopia" (ABC (Australia), 2014-). The show was a success and Netflix distributed it internationally under the title "Dreamland." In 2016, Pacquola premiered on "Rosehaven" (ABC (Australia), 2016-), a show she created with Luke McGregor, one of her co-stars from "Utopia." Another successful comedy, the show was picked up for international distribution by SundanceTV.
