Carlos Ponce
Carlos Ponce is a singer and actor who has successfully transitioned from Spanish-language television to a distinctive Hollywood career in comedies like "Couples Retreat" and the TV series "7th Heaven." A Puerto Rican-American of Cuban descent, Ponce was a successful child actor in Puerto Rico, appearing in television commercials, and he continued to act once his family immigrated to Miami. In his teen years he was offered a chat-show job by the television station Univision. After that ended he dabbled in Spanish-language soap opera work and hosted another show for Univision while launching a singing career; his self-titled debut album topped the Latin Billboard charts for a total of nine weeks in 1998. Meanwhile, he launched a career in Hollywood, appearing on prime-time television dramas until he became a correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight" in 2003. From here he began to win bigger film roles, memorably as Rodrigo in the broad Rob Schneider comedy "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" and as Jessica Biel's characters husband on the later years of the religious family drama "7th Heaven." This role, along with a notable gig hosting the 2006 Miss Universe pageant, led to work as a suave neighbor in the Lindsay Lohan teen comedy "Just My Luck" and as the sexy instructor Salvadore in the Vince Vaughn comedy "Couples Retreat" in 2009. Throughout his career Ponce has released a number of albums and produced several hit Latin radio singles while balancing a family and steady work as a character actor.
