Bubba Watson

Professional golfer Bubba Watson was born Gerry Watson in Bagdad, Florida. His indelible nickname was given to him by his father, inspired by football player Bubba Smith. Watson began impressing his family and teammates as a member of the Milton High School Panthers, a team that had previously boasted members like Heath Slocum and Boo Weekley. At the University of Georgia, Watson helped the Bulldogs to two NCAA championships before turning professional in 2003, joining the Nationwide Tour. By 2006, Watson was playing his first PGA Tour, claiming his first win on the circuit in 2010. He won the Farmers Insurance Open and finished in second place at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions the following year. An even bigger win would come in 2012, when Watson won the Masters Tournament. That same year, he became the envy of classic TV fans when he purchased the car known as the General Lee that was used on the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard" (CBS, 1979-1985) for for $110,000 After the Charleston church shooting three years later, the Confederate flag that decorated the car's roof became a source of contention, and Watson vowed to paint over it with the American flag. He went on to win the Northern Trust Open in 2014 and the Travelers Championship in 2015. Watson then began 2016 with a bang, winning the Northern Trust Open at Riviera.
