Bruno Odar

Born in Peru, actor Bruno Odar's is primarily known for his stage work and his performances for television. He studied drama at the Pontifica Universidad Catolica del Peru and also studied dance in Lima. In his early 20s, he started appearing in a number of short films. His career prospects received a major boost, though, when in 1987 he received a grant from the Conservatory of Performing Arts in Rennes, France, and studied drama and the art of mime. He would subsequently join the Théâtre du Mouvement and perform several plays with them before returning to Peru and landing several jobs on daytime soap operas, including a breakout part on "The Up and the Down," a show notable for its realistic look at contemporary life in Lima. For the next few years Odar continued to work for television, but his ambition to establish himself in the world of theater and eventually opening up his own drama workshop with his wife in 1999. Worldwide exposure to Odar's talents as an actor finally came his way when he starred as the lead in the 2010 "October." The film, which garnered praise at that year's Cannes Film Festival, is about a taciturn loan shark, played by Odar, whose life is upended when someone leaves an infant on his doorstep.
