B.o.B, born Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. B.o.B rose to prominence with his versatile musical style, blending elements of hip-hop, pop, and rock. His early interest in music and talent for multiple instruments, including the guitar and trumpet, set him apart in the hip-hop landscape. B.o.B gained widespread recognition with his debut studio album, "B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray," released in 2010. The album featured hit singles like "Nothin' on You" (featuring Bruno Mars) and "Airplanes" (featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore), which showcased his ability to cross genres and appeal to a broad audience. B.o.B continued his success with subsequent albums such as "Strange Clouds" (2012) and "Underground Luxury" (2013). In addition to his music career, B.o.B has been known for his outspoken views on various topics, including conspiracy theories and societal issues. Notably, he and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson argued on social media about his belief that the Earth is flat. B.o.B released a diss track against Tyson titled "Flatline" in 2016. Tyson responded with the help of his rapper nephew, releasing his own diss track "Flat to Fact" (2016). B.o.B released his fourth studio album "Ether" on May 12, 2017 featuring many other artists including Usher, Young Thug, Ty Dolla Sign, and Lil Wayne. In 2018, B.o.B released the album "Naga" though it was not a commercial success. Continuing with his prolific song production, he released the studio album "Somnia" in 2020, followed by the singles "Vimana" and "Scenic Route" in 2022.
