Billy Joe Shaver

Actor-musician Billy Joe Shaver made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen for more than three decades. Shaver worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Farm Aid IV" (The Nashville Network, 1989-1990), "Fool For Love" (1985) starring Sam Shepard and "Johnny Cash: The First 25 Years" (CBS, 1979-1980). He also contributed to "They All Laughed" (1981) starring Audrey Hepburn. In the eighties and the early 2000s, Shaver devoted his time to various credits, such as "The Texas Connection" (The Nashville Network, 1989-1993), "The Late Show With David Letterman" (CBS, 1993-2015) and "The Apostle" with Robert Duvall (1997). He also worked on "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" (2001). Shaver continued to exercise his talent in the early 2000s, taking on a mix of projects like "Secondhand Lions" (2003) starring Haley Joel Osment, "Squidbillies" (Cartoon Network, 2005-) and "Baitshop" (USA, 2007). His credits also expanded to "Crazy Heart" (2009) starring Jeff Bridges. Shaver most recently acted in the adventurous drama "A Night in Old Mexico" (2014) with Robert Duvall. Billy Joe Shaver died on October 28, 2020 after suffering a massive stroke at the age of 81.
