Belle Mitchell

Belle Mitchell was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Mitchell started her acting career landing roles in such films as "I Love That Man" (1933), the Jeanette MacDonald musical "The Firefly" (1937) and "Blockade" (1938). She also appeared in the action film "The Mark of Zorro" (1940) with Tyrone Power, the Maria Montez fantasy "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" (1944) and "Cobra Woman" (1944). She kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "Who's Guilty?" (1945), "Freddie Steps Out" (1946) and the musical "High School Hero" (1946) with Freddie Stewart. She also appeared in the musical "Junior Prom" (1946) with Freddie Stewart, "Vacation Days" (1947) and "That Lady in Ermine" (1948). Film continued to be her passion as she played roles in "Viva Zapata!" (1952), "Passion" (1954) with Cornel Wilde and "Lust For Life" (1956) with Kirk Douglas. She also appeared in "The First Traveling Saleslady" (1956) with Ginger Rogers, the western "The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold" (1958) with Clayton Moore and the Rosalind Russell comedic adaptation "A Majority of One" (1961). Mitchell was most recently credited in the Charlton Heston action movie "The War Lord" (1965). Mitchell passed away in October 1961 at the age of 72.
