Ariel Rot

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ariel Rot started playing "rock en español" in Spain after teaming up with singer Alejo Stivel, drummer Manolo Iglesias, guitarist Julián Infante, and bassist Felipe Lipe in a local outfit called Tequila. Their first album, Matrícula de Honor, came in 1978. The Spanish-Argentinian foursome disbanded in 1983 after issuing four records. Debajo del Puente became Rot's solo debut album, and featured the hit singles "Debajo del Puente " and "Veneno." Nevertheless, ex-Los Abuelos de la Nada Andrés Calamaro joined him to assemble a new band named Los Rodríguez. They became a major number in the Latin music scene after releasing the successful Sin Documentos. The talented singer/guitarist/producer returned to his solo career in 1997. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
