Anthony Valentine

Working as a child actor since the age of 10, Anthony Valentine has dedicated his life to acting, both in the theater and in innumerable productions in British television. Not classically handsome, Valentine specializes in character parts, often playing criminals and members of the working class. The occasions when Valentine has appeared in theatrical films have been memorable: he played one of the thugs pursuing James Fox in Nicholas Roeg's experimental counterculture classic, "Performance," and the mysterious local who held the answers to the string of murders in the 1972 British cult thriller "Tower of Evil." Fans of British television remember him as the serial killer bedeviling Edward Woodward's government agent "Callan" in the 1967 series, and in "Colditz," about the grim and cramped conditions in a Nazi prison camp. Valentine has worked steadily throughout the decades and continues in his later years in his regular role on "Coronation Street," the long-running prime-time British soap opera set among the working class.
