Anthony Drazan

"Zebrahead" (1992), the first film of this young independent feature director and writer was produced by Oliver Stone and explored the difficulties of interracial relationships. This striking debut won some critical praise as well as respectable box-office. Prior to "Zebrahead," Drazan had helmed one segment of "The Sunset Gang" (1991), a two-part production for PBS's "American Playhouse." His second film was a well-crafted, if not terribly original, coming-of-age story featuring Fairuza Balk as a teenager and Harvey Keitel as her father. In 1998, he assembled a stellar cast (including Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey and Meg Ryan) for "Hurlyburly," the screen version of David Rabe's satire of Hollywood in the 1980s.
