Anthony Burrell

Anthony Burrell was best known as a dancer and choreographer who worked with the likes of Beyoncé and Mariah Carey. Burrell was a native of Philadelphia who began teaching and choreographing at age 14 as a student at the Point Breeze Performing Arts Center. While in high school, he danced professionally with various troupes while also studying at the Pennsylvania Ballet and the National School of Ballet in Lima, Peru. During his freshman year of college at The University of the Arts, Burrell was selected to join the Ailey II troupe of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. After a year with Ailey II, Burrell joined Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and began touring nationally and internationally with the company for five years. From there, he began to appear in music videos and on television as a dancer, choreographer and dance captain for some of the music industry's top artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Mariah Carey. Burrell appeared as himself on the popular reality dance show "Dance Moms" (2011) as well as making an appearance as a dance judge on "Abby Lee's Ultimate Dance Competition" (2012). Burrell then went on to again appear as himself on the spin-off "Raising Asia" (2014). His most notable recent work was as a choreographer on Beyoncé's groundbreaking visual album "Lemonade" (2016).
