Annie Ross

Annie Ross worked on a variety of projects during her entertainment career. She had an early role on the television special "Lady Day: The Many Faces of Billie Holiday" (1992-93). She also acted in various film roles at the time, appearing in "The Player" (1992) with Tim Robbins. Ross also contributed music to "The Night of the Following Day" (1968). She kept working in film throughout the nineties and the 2010s, starring in the Andie MacDowell dramedy "Short Cuts" (1993) and the documentary "Anita O'Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer" (2008) with Amy Albany. She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Luck, Trust & Ketchup: Robert Altman in Carver Country" (1993-94), "Dizzy: The Life and Music of John Birks Gillespie" (2000-01) and "Billie Holiday: Sensational Lady" (2001-02). Ross also created music for the comedy "Deconstructing Harry" (1997) with Caroline Aaron. Ross's music was most recently used in the Cate Blanchett dramatic adaptation "Carol" (2015). Annie Ross died on July 22, 2020 in New York, NY at the age of 89.
