Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American news anchor with a strong and diverse portfolio of work, including her own weekday afternoon news and discussion show "Andrea Mitchell Reports" (MSNBC 2008-) and the role of chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. In this latter role her reports appeared on "Today" (NBC 1952-), "NBC Nightly News" (NBC 1970-) and "Morning Joe" (MSNBC 2007-). She also appeared as a commentator and guest host on "The Rachel Maddow Show" (MSNBC 2008-) and "Charlie Rose" (PBS 1991-). On the lighter side, she also played herself in a cameo role on Tina Fey's metafictional comedy "30 Rock" (NBC 2006-2013). Raised in New Rochelle, NY, Mitchell began her media career as news director of her student radio station at the University of Pennsylvania. She remained in radio until a television job at Washington, D.C.'s WTOP (now rebranded WUSA) came along in 1976. Two years later she moved to NBC, where she remained in roles including energy correspondent, chief congressional correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent. Offscreen, Mitchell is perhaps best known for being the wife of economist and former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan.
