Aliyah O'Brien
Growing up, Canadian actress Aliyah O'Brien was always encouraged to express herself, and found her outlet in the arts. Describing herself as the daughter of two hippies, as a child she studied dance, figure skating, and musical theater. She left performing for a while because of her inability to sing and put an acting career out of her head. In 2007, she was encouraged by a friend to return to her original passion for performance and landed her first role on the Canadian crime drama series "Intelligence" in the part of a stripper named Kandy in the episode "A Man Escapes." Her next regular role was that of Tannis in te hit comedy sitcom "men With Brooms." Tannis is the feisty bartender at the curling club the show centers on. In 2011, O'Brien appeared in the Lifetime Original Movie "Bringing Ashley Home" as Marquita, which was broadcast in the U.S., introducing her to American viewers in a larger role, after a small appearance on the comedy "Psych" in 2008. The appearance on "Psych" as a woman named Wilde, she has listed as one her most memorable jobs because of the uniqueness of her tough character--a roller derby competitor who is also a murderer.
