Alisen Down

After Alisen Down finished high school in her hometown of Langley, British Columbia, she headed south to Los Angeles to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She then continued her education in Oxford, England at the British American Academy before returning to British Columbia where she began to find acting roles. Her first acting credit came in 1998, when she appeared in an episode of the critically-acclaimed Canadian crime drama "Da Vinci's Inquest." The next year she had parts in the low-budget films "Bad Money" and "A Good Burn," as well as another lauded crime drama, "Cold Squad," where she had her first recurring role, playing Anita Dunn, a woman who is being stalked. In 2000, she landed a second recurring role in the sci-fi series "Mysterious Ways," starring as Miranda Feigelsteen, a physics graduate student and assistant to an anthropology professor. When that show ended in 2002, she continued to land many TV roles. She was on another science-fiction series "Stargate SG-1" in 2004, on the young-Superman drama "Smallville," in a recurring role as Lex Luthor's mother in five episodes from 2004 to 2008, and beginning in 2006 she appeared in eight episodes of the updated "Battlestar Galactica." Some of her more recent film credits include the 2008 remake of the 1950s sci-fi film "The Day the Earth Stood Still," the 2009 romantic comedy "Control Alt Delete," and 2010's "Paradox."
