Alexander Gould

A Los Angeles resident from birth, Gould started appearing on screen while still a toddler, with his younger sisters Emma and Kelly eventually following suit. In 2000, at the age of six, he was featured as a kid under the care of perpetually conflicted high-school student Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini) on an episode of the revered TV show "Freaks and Geeks." Around that time, he also played the oddly named youngster Egg on an installment of the sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," and the following year he had a brief recurring stint on the legal comedy "Ally McBeal" (Fox, 1997-2002). In 2003, Gould's voice was heard by millions of animation fans as Nemo, a little anemone-dwelling fish who gets carried off by a scuba-diving dentist, prompting his father, Marlin (Brooks) to embark on dangerous journey to find him. Commercially and critically, "Finding Nemo" proved to be one of Pixar's biggest hits, becoming an instant classic. While Gould wasn't able to turn the runaway success of "Nemo" into stardom, it did lead to other projects, including an unaired 2005 pilot for a reboot of the horror-tinged soap opera "Dark Shadows," (ABC, 1966-1971) where he portrayed the young David Collins. That year, he signed on to Showtime's "Weeds," debuting as 10-year-old Shane, a boy whose mother has resorted to selling marijuana after the death of his father. While settling into his "Weeds" tenure, Gould voiced the youthful namesake deer of the 2006 straight-to-video Disney animated feature "Bambi II," and was also featured as Twitch in the live-action children's-book adaptation "How to Eat Fried Worms" (2006). He subsequently worked outside of "Weeds" only rarely, instead focusing on his character as he endured a series of trials and tribulations while becoming an eccentric teen. In 2012, after appearing on every episode of the series, Gould and his fellow cast members, including Parker and his on-screen brother, Hunter Parrish, bid farewell to "Weeds" after eight seasons. Easing back into post-"Weeds" life, he lent his voice to the animated movie "Superman: Unbound" (2013), portraying the superhero's loyal friend Jimmy Olsen.
