Alan Cohen
Arranger, composer, soprano, tenor sax. A trained composer, Alan Cohen has written songs and done arrangements for many musicians and groups in his homeland of England. These include Humphrey Littleton, Chris Barber, the radio station orchestras of Germany, Denmark and England, plus Bing Crosby. Cohen formed a big band in 1971 to play Duke Ellington's music, and this orchestra recorded an album's worth in 1972. After that orchestra disbanded in 1973, Cohen and Keith Nichols led The Midnite Follies Orchestra, starting in 1978. Cohen wrote arrangements for a 31-piece band led by Rolling Stones' drummer Charlie Watts in 1985, and in '86 formed his own quintet. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
