Actress Aimee Carrero enjoyed recurring parts in "Level Up" (Cartoon Network, 2012-13), "Young and Hungry" (Freeform, 2014-18) and "The Americans" (FX, 2013-18) before voicing the titular roles in animations "Elena of Avalor" (Disney Channel, 2016-) and "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" (Netflix, 2018-). Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Aimee Carrero grew up with her Puerto Rican father and Dominican mother in Miami. She initially had plans to attend law school but after graduating from Florida International University with a degree in International Relations two years early she decided to pursue her acting ambitions. Carrero made her screen debut in short film "Category 4" (2007) and landed one-off parts in "Hannah Montana" (Disney Channel, 2006-2011) and "The Mentalist" (CBS, 2008-2015) before enjoying a four-episode stint as Sylvia Torres in family drama "Lincoln Heights" (ABC Family, 2007-09). After moving up to the big screen with a small role in "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" (2009), Carrero guested on "The Middle" (ABC, 2009-2018), "Greek" (ABC Family, 2007-2011) and "Men of a Certain Age" (TNT, 2009-2011), played Jude in TV movie "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening" (2012) and was cast as vivacious teen Angie in live-action fantasy "Level Up" (Cartoon Network, 2012-13). Her big break came when she landed the role of Emily Osment's career-minded best friend Sofia in hit sitcom "Young and Hungry" (Freeform, 2014-18). During her five-season spell on the show, Carrero also ventured into the horror genre with a supporting role in "Devil's Due" (2014) enjoyed multi-episode stints as Sandinista leader Lucia in Cold War drama "The Americans" (FX, 2013-18) and computer hacker Ana Montes in crime thriller "Blindspot" (NBC, 2015-) and showed up as herbalist Miranda in Vin Diesel fantasy "The Last Witch Hunter" (2015). Carrero then became the voice of Disney's first ever Latina fairy tale princess in "Elena of Avalor" (Disney Channel, 2016), added "MacGyver" (CBS, 2016-) and "American Horror Story: Cult" (FX, 2017) to her filmography and played Jason Alexander's young wife Patti in comedy "The Portuguese Kid" (2018). Carrero further embraced the animated world when she signed up to voice the titular hero in reboot "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" (Netflix, 2018-).
