When a famous cancer researcher is found dead, Holmes and Watson must determine if the scientist's untimely demise was tied to his latest cutting-edge invention. Meanwhile, Bell is finally cleared to re-enter the field.

Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Eliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) are called in to investigate when a disabled woman, Cara Benson (guest star Lisa Arrindell Anderson), is beaten and raped. Though the victim's condition has rendered her unable to speak, the detectives soon deduce that someone close to her is responsible, with the lead suspects being her resentful sister (guest star Jill Scott) and troubled nephew (guest star Quinton Aaron). As the investigation continues, Benson and Stabler strive to make Cara comfortable with coming forward to stand up for herself and illuminating some of the disturbing truths about the assisted living business. When a music prodigy is kidnapped, it’s discovered that a sequence of flashing lights appeared at the abduction – which Walter links back to his bunkmate at St. Claire’s Hospital.

Vic Russell, a trucking company owner, is found murdered after a business meeting with a partner, Stan Klein (Guest Star Adam Grupper). Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) discover that Klein may have been involved in an illegal scheme to defraud Russell and others. As the investigation continues, the detectives also uncover a trail that leads them to believe that Russell had ties to the Russian mob and Alex Arshavin (Guest Star Michael Aranov), a loan shark. The key to the murder is an expensive watch stolen from Russell’s dead body. As A.D.A.’s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) bring the case to trial, they discover that their star witness, Klein’s son Chad (Guest Star Robert Iler) may be involved in a secret love affair and have his own motive for murder. After a teenaged runaway is found shot in the chest, Detectives Fontana (Dennis Farina) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) begin to suspect his upstate "soccer mom," who admits she killed her vicious son out of fear that he would follow in his criminal father's footsteps. As ADAs McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Borgia (Annie Parisse) charge her with second-degree murder, the defendant's attorney claims that her client did society a favor by ending her son's life prematurely -- and new video evidence might sway a jury. S. Epatha Merkerson and Fred Dalton Thompson also star.
