21 Savage
Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, better known by his stage name 21 Savage, is an American rapper who was born in Atlanta, Ga. His mother, who is of Dominican descent, and his father, who is of Haitian descent, raised him, his four brothers and six sisters, although one sister died when she was shot after a drug deal. His childhood was riddled with trouble, eventually leading to his permanent ban from every school in the Dekalb County School District due to gun possession when he was in the seventh grade. This incident led to him being sent to a youth detention center. Growing up, 21 Savage committed numerous criminal acts as a member of the Bloods, and in 2013, on his 21st birthday, he was shot six times and his best friend was killed during an attempted robbery. After the incident, things began turning around for him, and on Nov. 12, 2014, 21 Savage's debut single, "Picky," which was produced by DJ Plugg, was released. The debut single was later included on his debut mixtape "The Slaughter Tape," which was released on May 25, 2015. Continuing his success, 21 Savage released a collaborative EP titled "Free Guwop" with Sony Digital. It was noted that it was a tribute to fellow rapper Gucci Mane. Before that year ended, 21 Savage released his second mixtape, which was titled "Slaughter King." His success continued when he was named as one of the Freshman Class of 2016 by XXL in June 2016. On July 15, 2016, 21 Savage released his joint EP "Savage Mode" with Metro Boomin. The EP gained international attention and peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200. With this success, he found himself on the cover of The FADER magazine, and his single "X" featuring Future on the EP went platinum in the U.S. On Jan. 18, 2017, 21 Savage announced that he had signed with Epic Records. In 2017, his debut studio album, "Issa Album," made its way to No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single, "Bank Account," made it into the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. With everything going right for him, his success continued when he was featured on Post Malone's single "Rockstar," which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 21 Savage has three children.
