When college students Sam (Maya Stange) and Thea (Kathleen Robertson) meet Coles (Mark Ruffalo) at a party, their attraction is immediate and leads to a passionate, awkward night...and an intensely charged bond. As they continue to push sexual boundaries, they are tested by Sam and Coles' incipient romance and Thea's increasing recklessness until the relationship dissolves into a cloud of fear, resentment, and mistrust. 8 years later, they reunite. An animator at a high-profile ad shop, Coles now lives with Claire, his girlfriend of five years. Thea is happily married to Miles, with whom she owns a flourishing restaurant, and Sam has just returned to NYC after breaking off an engagement in London. Yet upon reconnecting, the three are drawn back into the complicated dynamic that defined their relationship and are forced to confront the true meaning of commitment and love.
