Wild Reeds
The life of a teenager is one immersed in self-discovery. François (Gaël Morel) lives in the South of France during the early 1960s, as the Algerian War nears a close. He is close to a young woman his age, Maïté (Élodie Bouchez), and their friendship remains platonic. At school, François is introduced to an arrogant classmate, Serge (Stéphane Rideau), whose overt sexuality initially appears intimidating, but in time the two youths begin a homosexual relationship. With the arrival of Henri (Frédèric Gorny), an Algerian-born Frenchman in exile, Maïtéc finds herself irresistibly drawn to the foreigner. As friendships and relationships compete, the self-centered kids begin thinking more broadly.
