Three Wishes for Cinderella

This charming and colourful version of the Cinderella story contains all the expected ingredients – and a whole load more besides. Long before the belated absorption of feminism into Hollywood’s modern fairy tale adaptations brought a new generation of feisty young women to cinema screens, THREE WISHES FOR CINDERELLA imagined a smart and sassy heroine. Despite her grim family circumstances, Popelka (Safránková) has no intention of falling into the arms of her princely suitor (Trávnícek) before putting him through his paces to ensure his worthiness of her affections. Fantastic fun and cheesily kitch, this film also has substance.
