Threads - Our Tapestry of Love
Ren Takahashi (Masaki Suda) and Aoi Sonoda (Nana Komatsu) were born in the same year: 1989. They meet when they are both aged 13 and fall for each other. Ren confesses his feeling for Aoi as they walk home together and they agree to meet the next day. But the meeting never takes place – Aoi’s family relocates suddenly to Sapporo. He takes a train to find her and manages to track her down, only to discover that Aoi has been viciously assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend. They escape to an empty house, where they share a night of passion – only to be separated by the police the next morning. Years later, they are reunited as adults in Tokyo, although much has changed in the years since they last saw each other. But although old passions die hard, their lives have now gone off in different directions: Aoi hopes to start a new life for herself in Singapore, while Ren has set his sights on becoming a successful cheese-maker. What does the future have in store for Ren and Aoi – and could it involve being together? “Threads – Our Tapestry of Love” is a 2020 Japanese movie that was directed by Takahisa Zeze.
