The Women whisks us into a busy pocket of Manhattan. At the centre of the tale is Mary Haines (Ryan), a thoroughly modern woman suddenly confronted with an age-old dilemma: a cheating husband. Mary appears to have it all: a beautiful home, a lovely 12-year old daughter, a successful Wall Street husband, and a career as a fashion designer. One thing Mary can always count on is the wonderful company of her girlfriends, Sylvie (Bening), the impeccably chic editor of a major fashion magazine, Edie (Messing), eccentric mother of five and Alex (Pinkett Smith), author and forthright glamour-puss. The ladies swiftly rally to Mary's side upon learning of her husband's infidelity at the hands of a backstabbing shopgirl. The trouble resides at Saks Fifth Avenue, with the store's resident gold-digger, a perfume "spritzer girl" named Crystal Allen (Mendes). So these funny, enterprising and very protective women take matters into their own hands... A comedy of both style and substance, The Women is a witty, fast-paced and emotional look at all things female and explores the true meaning of friendship. Behind every beautiful woman are her best friends.
