The Shout
On a summer's day on a village green, people are playing cricket. But there is something uneasy about this particular game. The players are too intense and the spectators are strange. There is nervousness in the air. This cricket match belongs to its setting - the local mental asylum - where, once a year, the members of the asylum battle for supremacy against the villagers. In the scoring hut two patients, Crossley and Graves, sit side-by-side recording every run, over and fallen wicket. Then Crossley tells a terrifying story of how he has the supernatural powers that give him the power to kill with a shout, an ancient magic he learnt from spending long years with the Aborigines of Australia. Starring Alan Bates, Susannah York, John Hurt and Tim Curry.
