The Middle of X
Available on MGM+, Philo, Prime Video, Tubi TV, Sling TV
We meet; Mack, Emily, Casey, Sam, Carter, Marty, Dick, and Lydia as they have just graduated High School in 1989. Mack (the smart good looking kid from the other side of the tracks) and his high school sweetheart Emily (the smart good looking kid from the right side of the tracks) throw a party at Emily’s parent’s house. At the end of the night one of their friends is killed in a car accident leaving the party. We are then re-introduced to this circle of friend’s decades later in the fog of midlife as they prepare to come together for a reunion party hosted by the now married Mack and Emily. At the party, the blanks that existed from 1989 to today are filled in. The friends begin to see each other for who they really are and not for what they once thought they were. As the party winds down, this snapshot of time presents an opportunity to reflect with nostalgia upon where we they’ve been and where they might go from here. In the end, Mack’s fate is somewhat unclear as he slips beneath the water line (literally and metaphorically).
