The Final Test

In the world of sports, deciding when to hang 'em up and call it quits is never an easy decision. A celebrated cricket player, Sam Palmer (Jack Warner) is competing in one final match before retiring. Much of England will be watching, as this competitor hopes to go out on a high note. One of the few people who may not witness this historic event is Sam's son Reggie. Sam had hoped Reggie would follow in his footsteps, but the younger Palmer is not as interested in cricket and instead aspires to be a writer and poet. To further that dream, Reggie goes to meet with prominent poet Alexander Whitehead (Robert Morley), but the boy soon discovers that Whitehead is a passionate cricket fan. With the aid of the establish poet, father and son have the opportunity to share a memorable moment.
