Tamara Drewe
When Tamara Drewe (Gemma Arterton 'Quantum of Solace', 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time') left her sleepy Dorset village to seek her fame and fortune in London, she was a gawky, teenage ugly duckling with an enormous nose.
Following the death of her mother, Tamara returns to Ewedown as a smouldering femme fatale, media celebrity and aspiring novelist – and most importantly with her new nose job. Her arrival sends shockwaves through this quiet community and its writer’s retreat, particularly amongst it’s male contingent: successful 50-something thriller writer Nicholas Hardiment (Roger Allam 'The Queen'), a serial philander to his wife Beth (Tamsin Greig TV’s 'Black Books') who once spurned the advances of a teenage Tamara; Andy Cobb (Luke Evans 'Robin Hood') her teenage boyfriend, now a handyman and gardener; and Ben Sargeant (Dominic Cooper 'Mamma Mia!'), rock musician and teen idol who moves to Ewedown to be with Tamara after she interviews him at a rock festival. His arrival creates yet more ripples amongst the villagers, particularly Jody and Casey, two obsessively smitten local schoolgirls.
Can village life ever return to normal in the wake of the trail of envy, lust and gossip left by Tamara Drewe? And will Tamara make the right choice about who is the right man for her? Find the answers in this romantic romp based on the much-loved graphic novel by Posy Simmonds and brought to the screen by Stephen Frears, acclaimed director of 'The Queen', 'My Beautiful Laundrette', 'Dangerous Liaisons', 'High Fidelity', 'The Grifters' and most recently 'Cheri'.
