Paradise Strong: Surviving California's Deadliest Wildfire
On November 8, 2018, the people of Paradise California awoke to an ominous amount of smoke. Though this community was used to fires in the area, something seemed different about this one. Fifty-mile an hour winds fanned the flames to make the Camp Fire into a monster, catching the town off guard and forcing many of the residents to flee for their lives. This would turn into the deadliest wildfire in California history, burning most of the homes in the community.The Camp Fire absolutely devasted the Paradise community. Search and rescue efforts turned out to be only search and recovery. After the fire, thousands of people in the Paradise area are trying to figure out how to rebuild and if it does, can it ever be the same? Many have to make the painstaking choice to leave while others find a way to stay in the area and even rebuild.The courage of these survivors radiates not only in their efforts to save their neighbors and themselves, but also in their unwavering resolve to heal, to care for their neighbors, and to hold onto hope for the future.
