Panama Hattie

Ann Sothern and Red Skelton star in this sprightly musical based on the hit Broadway show by Cole Porter. Set in the Panama Canal during World War II, the comedy follows nightclub entertainer Panama Hattie, who is used to fighting off the advances of the mostly inebriated sailors who frequent her club. When she falls in love with a wealthy businessman, she actually considers marriage for the first time. But his ex-lover causes trouble until two inept sailors help her win her man. Songs include "I've Still Got My Health" and "Let's Be Buddies." Lena Horne performs Porter's "Just One of Those Things" in one of her earliest film roles.
