Nazi Agent

This thrilling spy film by Jules Dassin will have you seeing double as the immensely talented Conrad Veidt plays two brothers of German descent who are living and working in the United States in the midst of WWII. One brother, Otto Becker, is pro-American, while the other, Baron Hugo von Detner, serves Nazi Germany. Hugo confronts Otto about his loyalties and attempts to pressure his brother into aiding the fatherland, using Otto’s status as an illegal alien as the ultimate bargaining chip. Otto reluctantly agrees to use his bookstore as a means of relaying information for the Nazis but when a fight with his brother leads to Hugo’s death, Otto sees an opportunity to help the Americans. Posing as Hugo, Otto infiltrates the Nazi spy ring and provides intelligence to the American authorities despite the dangers he faces should his true identity be revealed.
