Napoleon: The American Dream

As Napoleon waged war across Europe pursuing his grand vision of conquest, his meteoric rise and defeat began to echo across the Atlantic. Captured by the British after his loss at Waterloo, Napoleon still nurtured hopes of starting anew on America’s frontier. But exiled in the end to a remote island prison, he died at St. Helen. His dream of an American refuge was forever silenced on May 5, 1821.
