My Friend the Pope
Never before in history had a Pope having breakfast, talking or having lunch and dinner with a Rabbi, even on holidays for Judaism and Shabbat. Born in Buenos Aires, 63, rector of the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary , Abraham Skorka is also the author -along with the actual Pope Francisco- of the book "On Heaven and Earth" . When Skorka travels to Rome, he stays at the residence of Santa Marta, the new home of his friend , the Pope. Skorka notes that the Pope Francisco became a spiritual reference not only to his own church , but to the world , through actions such as his call for peace in Syria , or the call for a day of fasting and prayer to halt a military offensive . Skorka emphasizes that : " We both believe that God somehow has to do with our friendship and what we do . There are too many coincidences to believe that everything was casual . " Many Christians and many Jews can not understand our friendship , but " history, rather than political proposals , it is through acts " . This is a historical document that everyone should see.
