82-year-old jazz pianist Max Rose has lost his beloved wife of 65 years, Eva Rose. Attempting to settle into his new reality as widower with the support of his loving granddaughter, Annie Rose, he makes a troubling discovery in the form of an intimate inscription on a gift Eva received from another man. Digging through her belongings, he discovers a trail of evidence suggesting that she may have carried on a secret affair for the life of their marriage.
