Let It Be Morning
Adapted from the international best-selling novel by Palestinian author Sayed Kashua and written and directed by Israeli filmmaker Eran Kolirin (THE BAND'S VISIT), Israel's official submission for the 2022 'Best International Feature Film' category of the 94th Academy Awards, in LET IT BE MORNING, Sami (Alex Bakri), who lives in Jerusalem with his wife Mira (Juna Suleiman) and child Adam (Maruan Hamdan), receives an invitation to his brother’s wedding forcing him to return to the Arabic village where he grew up. After the wedding comes to an end, with no explanation, Sami discovers that phone signals are blocked, electricity gets cut off, and his hometown village is put under a military blockade lockdown by Israeli soldiers. In this sharply intelligent satire, chaos rises overnight amongst those stuck within the wall due to the blockade where Sami is cut off from the outside world, trapped in an unexpected situation while watching as everything he holds dear falls apart. Mixing social comedy with a touch of absurdity, LET IT BE MORNING examines the social and political status of Israel’s Arab community.
