Kalahari: The Flooded Desert
The Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa is a world of extremes. It is a vast sandy savannah that is a devoid of any permanent surface water. The name is based on a local term for "The Great Thirst." And yet this barren expanse is punctuated by explosions of life that flow from flooding rains. Its harsh cycles of dry and wet, scarcity and plenty, dictate which creatures will live and which will die.
