If you need a crime detection dog, you call the best trainer in the business and that would be Jazz Ramsey. And if you’re Jazz, you not only train great dogs, but also mentor the next generation of curious minds – the forensics club at the Astor Academy for Girls. She is assisted at the club meeting by Zeus, a K-9 unit trainee German Shepherd, who is learning new skills to eventually graduate and become a top notch crime detection dog. The students watch in awe as Zeus indicates he has found one of Jazz’s hidden specimens. But when he soon signals where Jazz didn’t hide anything, confusion and concern ensue as the forensics club meeting suddenly turns into a full-blown crime scene. Jazz and her best friend, Principal Sarah Carrington, identify the body found by Zeus as their childhood teacher, Bernadette Quinn. Detective Nick Kolesov, head of the major crimes unit, is assigned to investigate. He’s a dedicated investigator. And Jazz’s ex-boyfriend. But who would want this teacher dead? The father of a student who had received unusual attention from Ms. Quinn? The odd, uncomfortable school janitor that had access to the location where the body was discovered? Or Ms. Quinn’s cousin who strangely has been living in the teacher’s house without reporting her missing. And when too many clues start pointing at Principal Sarah and her past dealings with Ms. Quinn, Jazz, with the help of Zeus, will stop at nothing to find the truth.
