Hero Man
Hero Man is an inspiring documentary about never giving up on one’s dreams. Dave Filmore's apartment is robbed. Shortly after, he is hospitalized for 30 days with a debilitating disease. Dave then starts to feel like a changed man. His ordeals leave him hungry for justice. Realizing that life is short, Dave decides to live out his biggest childhood dream of becoming a real life superhero! Juiced up on experimental meds, Dave grabs his homemade cape and plastic light saber, vowing to defend the needy and powerless. Equipped with a ray gun he designed himself, he ventures out in search of trouble. Dave starts by challenging martial arts experts, a Darth Vader impersonator, and pro wrestlers. Finally, he takes it to the next logical level by bringing the fight into L.A.’s high crime neighborhoods, all with the hope of obtaining closure, or at least finding someone else to take it out on. Despite the efforts of his best friend, the local police, his rabbi, and eventually an intervention by his own film crew, Dave refuses to give up until he achieves his dream of becoming a real-life crime-fighter. Dave might not emerge a hero, but maybe he'll be a bit closer to being a man. Hero Man is a heartfelt story that proves that no matter how many times life knocks you down, reaching for an impossible dream can still lift you up.
