Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Murder in G Major
Leaving her job as an orchestra conductor and accepting a job teaching music to precocious school kids, Gethsemane Brown has found herself in the Irish countryside. But when the ghost of renowned composer Eamon McCarthy appears to her, he explains that he was framed for the killing of his beloved Orla and himself. Gethsemane discovers that she is the only person who can see Eamon, and therefore the only person who can help him solve his murder and join Orla in the afterlife. With the ghost of Eamon tagging along, Gethsemane investigates, quickly finding resistance from the handsome Inspector O’Reilly, who takes a liking to her but considers the case closed. Juggling her sleuthing with her work, she meanwhile struggles to turn the motley crew of students at St. Brendan’s into a choir that can compete at Regionals, though a handsome math teacher Griff is able to help her gain some ground. Gethsemane and Eamon begin to build a friendship as they work to solve the murders of Eamon & Orla, and end up working together to create a new melody for the students at St. Brendan’s. Running down the suspects and digging up clues brings them to the truth: Orla was killed by a friend - jealous of her romance with Eamon, and the poison that killed Eamon was never meant for him. In a climactic finale, the murderer is collared and Eamon is able to reunite with Orla. Though Gethsemane likely hasn’t seen the last of him.
