God's Waiting Room

In the thick heat of central Florida, Rosie, a musician fresh out of high school, can’t shake her boredom. Her father, Nino, is a brick layer and hard-working immigrant who’s proud of the life he’s provided for his daughter. By chance Rosie meets Jules, a hustler from New York and the two share a dreamy day at the beach where she falls hard for his streetwise charms and easy confidence. Rosie’s friends, Natty and Leigh, can’t stand Jules and warn her not to fall for his tired city boy routine. Rosie doesn’t listen to the warnings and decides to keep her relationship with Jules a secret from her friends and father. Meanwhile on the other side of town, a quiet young man, Brandon, returns to his grandmother’s home after a decade in prison. His parole officer helps him find work cleaning pools, but a scarred past has stunted Brandon, making his ability to assimilate back into society difficult. It’s all thrill rides and love songs until a drug fueled summer fizzles out and things start to fall apart. The story lines intersect when the violent pressures of life rise to an untenable level and something or someone must give as Rosie desperately chases down the dream she thought was too big.
