Fire Over England
Queen Elizabeth (Flora Robson) is sitting on the hot seat as Spanish influence has invaded her court and rumors of an assassination attempt circulate. She seeks out the names of the Spanish spies, but a conspirator is killed before he can name the others. Burned by the Spanish in his past, Michael Ingolby (Laurence Olivier) volunteers to stand in for the dead Spanish spy and infiltrate the royal court of King Philip II (Raymond Massey). Once on Spanish soil, Ingolby acquires the names needed by Queen Elizabeth and returns to England. With the fires of revenge fueling his fight, Ingolby sails on behalf of the Queen against the Spanish armada as the waters between the two kingdoms ignite in a blaze of glory.
