Emocean: A Surfer's Connection to the Sea
Emocean started out as a surf film and quickly turned into something more than waves and barrel rides. A documentary with soul; a salty blend of stories by the eclectic assortment of people sharing tales of adventure, adrenaline, inspiration, love, loss and their relationship with the ocean.Come on a beautiful ride to countless coastal locations. Some are well-known like Hawaii’s Pipeline and California’s Mavericks and others are remote spots tucked high up in North-West Australia and deep in South Australia. There is inspiring surfing but it is also a love letter to the sea from surfers, film-makers, fishermen, marine scientists and watermen who share their stories. Director and filmmaker Tony “Harro” Harrington explains," Everyone who surfs, dives, swims or spends time close to the ocean has their own special connection. There is a power within the waves and below the water’s surface that draws us in, fuels us and nurtures us. The stories in the film are about how time in the water makes people feel. It’s about fostering respect for the marine environment and its creatures and why as surfers we are drawn to this mystical and powerful part of our planet that is in our oceans."
