On the eve of her wedding to Barnaby (James D'Arcy), Carmen (Natalia Verbeke) recklessly kisses an attractive stranger - Kit (Gael García Bernal). Having recently fled a violent and volatile relationship in Spain, Carmen has found comfort and safety with her fiancé Barnaby, who clearly dotes on her. Carmen hopes marriage will give her the security and stability she craves.
