De-Escalation

Everyone is talking about the problem, but no one is talking about the solution. De-Escalation provides that solution to police use of excessive force. A wide range of experts in the fields of law enforcement, body language, communication, psychiatry, and mental health offer unique insight into de-escalation techniques not used frequently enough today. The experts examine the cases of Laquan McDonald, Philando Castile, Eric Garner, George Floyd, Daniel Shaver, Sandra Bland, and Jason Harrison. They look at what was done incorrectly in those cases, and what could have been done to prevent those tragic deaths. Various news and social media footage can be seen while experts explain what they believe are the barriers to proper de-escalation. This then leads the experts into a discussion on what can be done to prevent unnecessary death at the hands of law enforcement.
