Resistance during times of war can take many forms from violent action to the distribution of prose calling for peace. Seventeen-year-old Guy Môquet (Léo-Paul Salmain) participated in the latter during WWII as he handed out pamphlets for the Communist Party in France. The young man was arrested for his defiant deeds and was held in a prisoner of war camp with his brothers in arms until the blood of German officers was spilled during the occupation. With the brazen assassination of two Nazi soldiers in broad daylight, the German government sought swift and severe punishment. In retaliation, Hitler ordered the execution of 100 Frenchmen, which included Môquet and his communist comrades. A brutal story about bravery, this Volker Schlöndorff film focuses on a member of the Resistance who has since become a hero in the eyes of his countrymen.
