The international race for supersonic flight was won by the Americans in 1947. The story is told by designers, engineers and an elite group of pilots who risked life and limb to test prototypes. The film features newly discovered film of the top-secret M52, a British plane that would have been capable of 1,000 mph, a project authorities blew out of the sky in what some saw as an act of betrayal.
