Bardelys the Magnificent

All bets are off, when two men make a wager over a woman's heart in this period piece by director King Vidor. Bardelys (John Gilbert) and Châterllerault (Roy D'Arcy) contend for the attention of Roxalanne de Lavedan (Eleanor Boardman), but their approach is hardly conventional. While on the road to Lavedan, Bardelys comes across a weary traveler whose wounds result in his death. Bardelys assumes the man's identity not realizing the man is wanted for treason. Upon his arrival in Lavedan, Roxalanne conceals Bardelys from the king's men and soon falls in love with his alter ego. As truths are slowly revealed, each of the major players get their feelings hurt, but how they react may surprise you.
