Angela's Christmas 2
Will Angela's wish for her father’s return come true? Seven-year-old Angela, the star of the much-loved film Angela's Christmas, returns in a brand new 45-minute Christmas story. Angela's Christmas 2 is a heart-warming tale of a determined little girl who sets out to reunite her family in time for Christmas. Based on the characters from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt, it is a tender and funny story about the importance of family and togetherness. Set one year after the events of Angela's Christmas, this new holiday special answers our viewers’ questions: where is Angela’s father? Angela has one big wish for Christmas; her father’s return. It is Christmas Eve and Angela’s mother seems distracted. Angela and her siblings are convinced it is because she is missing their father as much as they are. Angela comes up with a plan - she will bring their father home from Australia in time for Christmas and reunite the family! Angela recruits her brother Pat, and the siblings head out into bright, snowy Limerick to find their way to Australia. Their first idea is to dig down there, but when that plan fails Angela is even more determined to make her wish for the family come true. Their adventure takes them on a tour of inner-city Limerick; from the library where they locate a map of Australia, to South’s Bar where the children sing for the price of a ticket, and Limerick Docks where they attempt to sneak aboard a ship to Australia. Angela's journey reunites her with many of the characters from Angela's Christmas as well as some new friends including Dorothy; a lonely little rich girl who also longs for the company of her distant father. Dorothy joins the children on their quest, and along the way, Angela helps Dorothy’s father learn to cherish his own family at Christmas. Of course, Angela keeps the statue of the Baby Jesus in St Joseph’s Church informed of her plans and turns to him for comfort when all seems lost.
