An American Citizen

Michael is an American basketball player. When a knee injury ends his career at the age of 31, his passion to continue playing professionally leads him to sign with a disreputable manager and join a small Israeli team on a one-year contract. When Israeli sports journalist Yeol Levi writes a negative article about Michael, the two meet - and Michael and Yeol unexpectedly become fast friends. Michael soon falls for Yeol's sister, Rachel, a pianist. As the team loses game after game, the manager bails - leaving the team unpaid all the money he owes them. Yeol and his stepfather come to the rescue, funding the team for the rest of the season - and the team rallies and manages to win an important game. With the season over, Michael must return to America, and he and Yeol must say an emotional farewell.
